But the view alone is of course not the most important thing, but rather a plus that only makes a stay in a well-run hotel and restaurant even more enjoyable. In 1964, Winfried and Maria Horn laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Bellevue restaurant on a green slope in Wolfshausen. On the upper floor, there were only six small guest rooms, which were rented out primarily to sales agents for 5 German Mark per night.
Winfried Horn used quite unusual spices in his kitchen, such as curry, which was enjoyed by the guests, and so the restaurant quickly became one of the leading ones in the district. Building on this success, the first hotel complex with 20 rooms was built in 1984 and the second with a further 30 rooms in 1994.
In 1987, 60 people visited the Saudi Arabian royal family for 10 weeks, which was a challenge for Bellevue, which the staff as well as the management gladly — and successfully — accepted. Even a prince was born during his stay in Marburg. The guests who traveled far away liked it so much that they took home a whole 7 trucks full of shopping. Many other celebrities, such as Federal President Dr. Karl Carstens, Vico Toriani as well as Maria and Margot Helwig, also paid their visit to Bellevue.
After many “golden” decades, “Bellevue” fell into a slumber, from which it was only kissed awake in 2023 by the new managing director Jan Leithäuser. As an interior designer, he knows how to give the solid substance an atmosphere with structural changes, colors and accessories in which guests feel safe and can therefore revel in good wine and fine cuisine.
We are continuing Winfried's Horn's love of good food. Wherever possible, we use sustainable, regional products and ingredients, which is reflected in our seasonally adapted menu.
